Description: Reasons why you should buy this disc: the 38-minute Canto is rare (other available recordings are mostly historical and some aren't of the orchestral version), 17 minutes of it are purely orchestral, it's absolutely Turina at his evocative, richly colorful Spanish best, and its impact is hardly lessened by the lack of texts and translations. The Poema and Farucca are hardly less colorful, channeling the love-lorn, passionate spirit of flamenco while the three-minute Saeta revisits the same Seville religious procession as the second song of the Canto. No texts. Lucia Duchonová (mezzo), North German Radio Philharmonic; Celso Antunes.
