Description: Once thought to be by the young Beethoven, Witt's Jena symphony dates from between the publication of Haydn's late symphonies and 1796, which tells you much about its style; the A major work is from 1790 and has a deftly-written opera buffa-style finale. The flute concerto (1806) is very virtuosic and still in attractive late Classical style. Sinfonia Finlandia Jyväskylä; Patrick Gallois (flute).
