Description: This massive work was composed for the 1100th anniversary of Salzburg in 1682 (and there is still a slight chance that its composer wasn't Biber but might have been Andreas Hofer or Georg Muffat). Using eight choirs (two of voices, two of strings, two of trumpets and two of cornets, trombones, clarini and woodwinds) placed in galleries all around Salzburg Cathedral (the original surround-sound), this was a magnificent experience worthy of the occasion. DG's Archiv label offered a recording of this in 1999; this is a newer revision and transcription by the conductor of this recording, which was made in 2003. Tibicines, La Stagione Armonica; Sergio Balestracci. SACD hybrid
