Description: All folk music all the time in this hour-long celebration of the great Hungarian teacher, composer and folk-song collector: the two vocal works are the 1976 Garland, three songs each of Slovak, Romanian and Croatian origin (sung in Hungarian after the first verse is sung in the original language) and the 1960 Ballade (premiered at the 1960 First International Finno-Ugric Conference and in a historical recording from that date). The other 37 minutes are purely orchestral, from the 1931 Kálló songs, the 1938 Finnish Dances, the 1940 Hungarian Dances, the 1941 Carpathian Rhapsody to the 1954 Danza Transilvana. Catchy tunes radiantly orchestrated. What's not to like? And yet, it's not being released in the U.S. Hungarian-English texts. Ilona Tokody (soprano), Erzsébet Török (soprano - Ballade), Sándor Palcsó (tenor), Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra; András Farkas, Ferenc Farkas (Ballade).
