Description: Casablancas' very earliest works retain elements of neoclassicism, and throughout it is apparent that tradition - both the 19th-century piano tradition and compositional styles that succeeded it in the early 20th, most obviously the Second Viennese school - is important to the composer. Transitional works betray this latter influence the most, along with a delicacy of impressionistic mood that even suggests Mompou. The fully mature works of the last decade place flashes of dazzling virtuosity alongside an increased concern for sonority, nevertheless always tightly controlled and rigorously structured. Jordi Masó (piano), Mequel Villalba (duet pianist).
