Description: An unusual mixture of genres here: short Spanish cantatas by Vinci and a three-minute zarzuela excerpt by de Nebra alongside two Italian intermezzi (the obscure Petrini's in Neapolitan dialect). Naples was connected culturally and politically to the Spanish crown for 200 years, so this musical demonstration is not as odd as it appears. The delightful intermezzi come from just the period when they were beginning to emancipate themselves from opera intermission fare and becoming a stand-alone genre. Italian/ Spanish-English texts. Roberta Invernizzi (soprano), Cristina Calzolari (contralto), Giuseppe de Vittorio (tenor), Giuseppe Naviglio (baritone), Cappell della Pietà de'Turchini; Antonio Florio.
