Description: 20th century Swiss horn quartets, ranging from the warm, golden late Romanticism of Flury (even though composed as late as 1954), through the neo-classical Zbinden (1953), the humorous Semini (a 1958 suite which depicts a primeval sunrise, "Hunt of the Troglodytes", a serenade for the dwellers in lake stilt-huts and a celebration of the first harvest, ushing in agriculturalism. Roy (also 1953) has stylistic links to Hindemith and Frank Martin while Darbellay's work, a 9/11 piece, is the only one which is not tonal and consonant although it uses its modern language for expression and not for the sake of academic display. Zurich Horn Quartet.
