Description: Bachrich was a pupil and close collaborator of Arnold Schoenberg in Vienna and one of the most important protagonists of the Second Viennese School. After working as a Kapellmeister in Düsseldorf and Duisburg, he returned to Vienna, where he attempted to make a stand against the increasing repression after the Anschluss. He was deported in May 1942 and murdered in July of the same year in the Majdanek extermination camp. The most obvious influences in the music here are Scriabin, Debussy and Berg. Texts and translations available online. Lola Rubio (violin), Anna Christin Sayn (soprrano), Alexander Breitenbach (piano).
