Description: This second of five planned volumes brings the first recordings of two movements associated with Gade’s second quartet of 1877 - an allegro non troppo which was first meant as the opening movement of the later op. 63 quartet and an andantino removed altogether when the composer decided to go with four instead of five movements. The 14-minute piano trio movement (1839) and the piano quartet Scherzo (1836), both redolent of Mendelssohn and Schumann, were first recorded on an MD&G release offered here in April of 2011 (04M007).
