Description: Novák wrote Latin, spoke it, founded associations of like-minded enthusiasts, founded a choir to perform works in Latin... who knew? Here are four of his choral settings of Latin texts: a set of fugues to texts by Vergil of 1974, a dozen excerpts from (mostly) the Carmina burana (the Invitatio of 1971), eight portraits of mythological figures to his own texts (1968), and a satirical will and testament by a German fellow Latin enthusiast (Testamentum of 1966).  Polyphony, wit, rhythmic and metrical sporting and a general atmosphere of elegance and sophistication mark everything here.
