Description: Raison was one of the higher ranking organists in Paris and published five organ masses in 1688. One of them is performed here on a nearly perfectly restored early 18th century French organ (nearly all of the piping and wind-chests are original) which is as close as one could conceivably come to Raison's sound world. Clerambault's two suites (c. 1710), a generation more modern in style, are on a larger scale than his teacher's mass. David Ponsford (organ of the Abbey of Saint-Michel-en-Thiérache).
