Description: Both dating from 1945, the Intermezzo and the C major viola sonata (also existing as a clarinet sonata in D), are gorgeous, often melancholy works of a rich neo-Romanticism while the other viola sonata and the violin sonata (1935 and 1937) show vibrant infusions of a Casellan neo-classicism as well as some Brahmsian romantic touches. There are a couple of other recordings of these works but the C major Improvviso (1969) and the Legend (a small transcription from the music for a 1948 film of the same name) are otherwise unavailable.
