Description: Two large-scale works (the sonata and Phantasie) are joined by shorter and lighter repertoire in this chock-full (80 min.) recital of two-piano music from Gouvy. Everything here dates from roughly 1873-83 and the Mendelssohnian lightness and lyricism is less evident in the two major pieces than in his symphonic works, replaced by Gouvy's own mature Romanticism.
