Description: Unlike Boris Goltz (see last month's catalogue), Galynin at least had fifteen years of creativity in a life bothered by official harassment and illness (and we have a recording of his first piano concerto on the Analekta label [03H076]). These early piano pieces, over half of which come from around 1939, show the young composer's main influences - from his two teachers, Shostakovich and Myaskovsky, combined with a Prokofievian motoric rhythmic quality and, in slow pieces, sometimes a hint of Scriabinesque harmonies.
