Description: A release pretty much for Bentzon specialists although the three earliest works, dating from 1947-52, are a very approachable mixture of Hindemith and a Bartókian freedom of rhythm, with Schoenbergian atonality edging into the wind trio, the latest of this three. The trombone sonata (1971), written while Bentzon was teaching at Dartmouth, adds hints of Morton Feldman's east-coast minimalism to Stravinsky of the American period, all mixed up in Bentzon's own evolving metamorphosis style while the 1977 tuba piece is a musicological artifact inspired by the short-lived Danish/German fluxus movement. Jakob Keiding (horn), Martin Schuster (trumpet), Niels-Ole Bo Johansen (trombone), Finn Schumaker (tuba), Erik Kaltoft (piano).
