Description: Volume three of the series "Franz Schreker's Masterclasses in Vienna and Berlin" brings the widest variety of music by his students, with Grosz's huge, 30-minute work from 1920, orchestrally conceived but genuinely pianistically realized, integrates exoticisms and jazz influences into a late Romantic matrix, a "conservatism" shared by the Lithuanian Jakubenas (1927 and 1936). The remainder of the pieces are anti-Romantic, progressive pieces of wide stylistic diversity. Kolja Lessing (piano).
