Description: Spech was, along with Janos Fusz, the first composer of Hungarian-language songs, although none are recorded here. Ranging over his entire career, the songs range from pieces for domestic singing (some with attractive Schubertian color) to the coloratura quality of the Italian "arias". The sonata (1804) is a 16-minute work in three movements with a waltz-like lilt to the first movement, a variation slow movement and a chipper rondo finale. German/French /Italian-English texts. Anikó Horváth, Ágnes Ratkó (fortepiano), Katalin Halmai (mezzo).
