GIOVANNI BONONCINI (1670-1747): La nemica d’amore fatta amante.

Description: This cantata was premiered on 10 August 1693, when Bononcini was only twenty-three. According to a contemporary Italian source, the performance was ‘sumptuous’, and ‘all Rome’ was in attendance. The young Italian’s success can be explained by his pleasant, uncomplicated style and his elegant, expressive melodies enriched by vigorous and varied bass lines. No texts.
