ANDRÉ CHERON (1695-1766): 7 Sonatas, Op. 2.

Description: Cheron worked at the Paris Opera as a harpsichordist and “inspecteur de l’orchestre de l’Opera”. This unusually numbered group of sonatas - 4 trio sonatas and 3 solo sonatas - was published in 1729. The music is strongly influenced by Italian music while containing French dance movements almost exclusively and are therefore actually suites rather than sonate da camera. 2 CDs. Ensemble Matís.
