ANTONÍN REICHA (1770-1836): Complete Piano Music, Vol. 1 - 3 Sonatas, Op. 46, 2 Fantasias, Op. 59.

Description: Not being a performing pianist himself, Reicha used the instrument to explore beyond the current language of Haydn and Mozart with unusual textures, strange part-writing, odd doublings, surprising harmonic deviations, sudden changes of direction - all showing him both following in the tradition’s footsteps and intentionally showing how one might do it differently. The sonatas probably date from the late 1790s and the Fantasias from circa 1803. Henrik Löwenmark (piano).
