Description: A tribute disc organized by his pianist son to a pianist/composer who spent most of his life as an administrator for the publisher Curwen. Nothing of the English pastoral tradition here but still classical in form, with some modal inflections and material characteristic of his family's Jewish origins. Completely assured technically and warmly communicative, everything here was written between 1935 and 1949 when his "day job"'s duties prevented Jacobson from composing as much as he might have liked.
