Description: Having recently gotten Hoffman's Frithjof symphony (01O001), we now have a trio of genial, comfortable chamber works of the heart-easing kind each of which has an opening allegro with the sort of insinuating, gratifying kind of melodic theme which the young Brahms produced for his early string sextets. The slow movements are elegiac, not tragic; the scherzos nimble and light-footed and the finales dance-like. Impossible not to love! Berolina Ensemble
