LEOPOLD KOZELUCH (1747-1818): Keyboard Concerto No. 2 in B Flat, Concerto en rondo in C, Keyboard Sonatas for Four Hands in C, F and D.
Catalogue Number: 07P017
Label: Mark Records
Description: World Premiere Recordings of two full-length, piano concertos in the full flower of Viennese Classicism (NOTE: only the B Flat work is performed on a piano; the odd Concerto en rondo -three rondo movements of which the first and last have the same main theme - is done on harpsichord which seems rather anachronistic given its 1793 publiation date) and three three- or two-movement four-hand sonatas (played here on harpsichord) of four to six minutes in length (needless to say, these latter were probably for private performance). No dates are given (almost no notes are given either) but the B Flat might be from 1784. The performances, with an orchestra of eight strings and pairs of oboes and horns, are far more professional than the disc's presentation and none of the works are otherwise available. Rochelle Sennet (piano, harpsichord), Sonia Lee (harpsichord), Classical Chamber Players.
