Description: Kirchner's 21-minute cycle of Romances, varied in tone from bright to melancholy, was published in 1875 and are an homage to Schumann's 3 Romances, Op. 28 while Huber's "Moods" date from 1900 and each of the seven comes with a few lines from poems in Heine's Buch der Lieder appended as a program. Equally in the Schumann-Brahms pipeline, this 19-minute sequence is another feather in the Romantic cap of this gradually being-rediscovered Swiss Romantic. Andrea Wiesli (piano).
