Description: From the interesting sub-genre of "erotic oratorio", this 1681 oratorio is based on Daniel 13, in which the faithful Susanna, refusing the advances of two judges, is condemned to death by them but saved by the young prophet. The series of recitatives, ariosos, arias and ensembles (duets and one trio) are driven by a compelling sense of drama in tersely designed music aiming at dramatic credibility and psychological nuance than virtuosic display. 2 CDs.
