JOHANN ADOLF HASSE (1699-1783): Missa ultima in G Minor.

Description: Second straight month with a large-scale Hasse sacred work, this one apparently never offered by us although it bears a 2006 publication date. This was Hasse's last completed work, written the year of his death and is big and imposing, using large instrumental and vocal forces (modern instruments in this live recoding from the Frauenkirche in Dresden in Nov. 2005) and, as you would expect in late Hasse, you'll find both up-to-date (i.e. Haydn) influences as well as the vigor and spirit of Vivaldi.
