NICCOLO FIORENZA (1700?-1764): Recorder Concertos in G Minor, A Minor, C Minor and F Minor, GIOVANNI BATTISTA MELE (1701?-after1752):

Description: Fiorenza brought a Venetian spirit and Vivaldian influence to Naples and the latter is audible in everything here while some of the violent mood shifts audible in several concertos fit in with the notes' relating of Fiorenza's violent temper (he apparently beat and injured some of his students!). Mele's work, apparently his only instrumental composition, fits in well stylistically with Fiorenza. Collegium Pro Musica; Stefano Bagliano (recorder).
