Description: Goltz wrote these works - his complete works for solo piano (a concerto was lost during the war and he was working on a symphony when Hitler attacked the Soviet Union) - during his six-year period of study at the Leningrad Conservatory, 1934-40. He joined the Baltic fleet after the war started in mid-1941 and was killed six months into the seige of Leningrad. The style is conservative: Rachmaninov and Scriabin rather than Shostakovich or Prokofiev and sometimes the legendary aspect of Medtner's skazki seem to haunt an indivdual prelude or two.
