GIOACCHINO ROSSINI (1792-1868): L'inganno felice.
Catalogue Number: 07K037
Description: This was only the 19-year-old composer's fourth stage work, a farsa written for Venice and it proved to be his most popular opera during the 19th century. The lack of interest in the semiseria sub-genre in the 20th meant that it was not performed again until 1954. This revised edition of the opera was prepared for this live recording at the 2005 Rossini in Wildbad Festival and includes an alternative aria for the female lead written for Milan in 1816. 2 CDs. Libretto available on-line. Kenneth Tarver (tenor), Corinna Mologni (soprano), Lorenzo Regazzo, Marco Vinco (basses), Czech Chamber Soloists, Brno; Alberto Zedda.
