Description: Another treasured LP release finally available on CD with the composer's wife as soloist in, arguably, his most distinctive work, the cello concerto of 1945. Moeran's usual influences - Sibelius, Ireland, Delius and Celtic folk-song are present yet fully assimilated. His cello sonata (1948) was his last completed major composition - somber and dejected in its first two movements but defiantly optimistic in the finale.
