Description: More engaging chamber music pours forth from this unjustly neglected composer: not only was he a superlative craftsman, but he could also unfold a fetching melody and had a strong sense of musical narrative. This recital of chamber works, over half of its 78 minutes for oboe and strings, is noteworthy for a further quality, one often underestimated: much of the music is, quite simply, charming. All but the Méditation-Prière date from 1900-1909. Quatuor Parisii, Budapest Strings, Lajos Lencsés (oboe), Carole Dubois (piano), Antal Váradi (organ), Renie Yamahata (harp).
