Description: A cellist and professor at the Paris Conservatory from 1918 until his death, Bazelaire students represented generations of French cellists, including Pierre Fournier. As you can see above, Bazelaire wrote in small forms, the pieces here ranging from one to eight minutes. Some have pedagogical intent, some are for advanced students and are of concert hall quality and several show a fondess for the baroque and classical periods. Not big, but well-crafted and satisfying! Morten Zeuthen (cello), Daniel Blumenthal (piano).
