Description: This mildly adventurous release offers, in addition to a new recording of Herrmann's best-known classical composition, nine minutes of charming mood pieces which Waxman wrote for the birth of Jascha Heifetz' son in 1948, Gershwin's 1919-20 Lullaby, mixing popular song with impressionist harmonies and 18 selections from his 1929 collection of piano versions of his popular songs. Some rarely played transcriptions round out the bill. The Nash Ensemble.
