Description: This 1934 oratorio is one of several which Haas called "folk oratorios": simple in texts and style, folkmusic-influenced, designed for easy comprehension by a less than sophisticated audience. Haas was a devoted Catholic all his life and his music is as humble as he reputedly was. Its three parts are self-explanatory - "Incarnation", "Passion" and "Transfiguration"- and the music is parcelled out to female soloists and chorus, mostly the latter, with each part having two short orchestral chorale fantasies. Some may even think of Elgar at times in the two last parts. German texts. Munich Women's Choir, Munich Young Women's Choir, Monika Lichtenegger (soprano), Simone Brückner (mezzo), Norbert Düchtel (organ), Susanne Brunner (piano), Joseph Haas Orchestra; Katrin Wende-Ehmer.
