Description: Born to a Jewish family in eastern Ukraine, Eiges was a student of Taneyev and, in the course of his long career, moved from typical Russian Romanticism to the chromaticism and mysticism of late Scriabin (especially in the Poems of 1924), to the early 20th century Romanticism of his friends Rachmaninov and Medtner and finally to the conservative, nostalgic "Russian Classicism" from the mid-1930s on. All are represented here. Another valuable find for collectors of Russian piano music. Jonathan Powell (piano).
