Description: Bird, a sometime resident in Calcutta, assembled this group of authentic Indian music under the title "Oriental Miscellany", published in Calcutta in 1789 and in Edinburgh around 1805. Detailed, excellent notes about the Englishwomen who did most of the tune collecting and the types of music represented, along with a table of the original (garbled in late 18th century linguistic innocence) and properly transliterated names of the pieces.
