Description: Taking almost eleven years from 1870 to 1881, the young composer finally finished his three-part representation of Schiller's dramatic poem Wallenstein and gave us a 37-minute piece steeped in Wagnerian influence, youthful energy and vigor and with a wide-ranging and colorful orchestration. The other rarity is the 1886 Suite, for two flutes, trumpet and string quartet, whose instrumentation may have been influenced by Saint-Saëns' Septet (also with trumpet) but its five traditional dance forms reflect D'Indy's work as an editor of early French music.
