THOMAS-LOUIS BOURGEOIS (1676-1750): Les Sirènes, Borée, Zéphire et Flore, Hippomène, Psiché.
Catalogue Number: 06N018
Description: Bourgeois was first to introduce arioso into the French cantata and these works, from 1708 and 1715, are remarkably tender and melancholy, making much use of minor keys in contrast to the brilliant style of singing then fashionable. This is apparently only the second release devoted solely to him (see our May 2007 catalogue for the other - 05I021). French-English texts. Carolyn Sampson (soprano), Le Concert Lorrain; Anne-Catherine Bucher.
