Description: The flow of operatic Cavalli continues unabated with his tenth, this Jason-Medea setting from 1649. A mixture of comedy and tragedy, it was first recorded by René Jacobs for Harmonia Mundi way back in 1988. Given that many of the original instrumental ritornellos are missing from the score, the recreation of them (done here by the conductor Sardelli; done there by Jacobs) will also be a matter of critical contention aside from whatever else happens in performance and interpretation. 3 CDs.
