Description: One of the rare large-scale works of this type to appear in the English sacred repertoire, Wood's Passion dates from 1920 and follows Bach's example: where the latter interspersed Lutheran chorales among his biblical texts, Wood uses well-known English hymns, which led to the work's great success.
