Description: Since part of the reason Mlada (1892) was so ill-starred is that it mixes opera and ballet (the title character dances but never sings), watching it would seem to be the best solution! Although we offered last year a special-import Russian Disc recording of Mlada conducted by Svetlanov, there is still currently no recording of this work available in the U.S. (The Kultur Video DVD, also conducted by Lazarev, is of a different performance. This one was recorded live in the Bolshoi Theatre in 1989).
