Format: CD

Price: $11.98

Description: Most of Hasse's works are impossible to date but not the magnificent Requiem, which was written in 1763 for the funeral of Augustus II of Dresden. Flutes, oboes, bassoons, horns and trumpets all get solo opportunities in a work whose magnificence was obviously made to mirror the generosity and splendor of the Prince Elector himself. The vocal parts border on opera seria in style and Hasse rounds off the 50-minute work cyclically with reference to the first two sections. The Miserere is rather overshadowed by it! Greta De Reyghere (soprano), Susanna Moncayo von Hase (alto), Ian Honeyman (tenor), Dirk Snellings (bass), Il Fondamento; Paul Dombrecht. Original 1993 Opus 111 release.
