Description: This new Langgaard series reaches its fourth volume with the amazing first symphony, written mostly while the composer was in his fifteenth year, premiered by the Berlin Philharmonic in 1913. Few collectors will not already have either the very first recording with Ilya Stupel and Polish forces on Danacord or Leif Segerstam's on Chandos with this same orchestra but the utterly spectacular sound quality of this new release is practically self-recommending and Dausgaard occupies an interpretational path right between his two predecessors - seven minutes faster than the idiosyncratic Segerstam and five minutes longer than the pioneering but rough around the edges Stupel.
