Description: Yes, the pianist here is Vladimir Sofronitsky’s daughter. Dussek’s Opus 9 trio are arrangements of works originally for piano and violin: most of the violin’s melody line was originally doubled by the right-hand part of the piano, making the transformation from chamber to solo work straightforward, and the character of these late-18th-century works corresponds to similarly conceived violin sonatas by Mozart and Beethoven, where the spotlight falls on the keyboard; Dussek’s penultimate sonata prefigures early Romanticism both in style and length (just under 32 min.). Viviana Sofronitsky (copy of c.1792 Walter fortepiano).
