Description: For Rawsthorne specialists: two short occasional pieces (the Air and Eloquent Music) receive their first recordings here while we also get both the original and the more virtuosic revised endings to the expressive and often wistful 1937 clarinet concerto. These and the cello sonata (the latter recently part of Chandos’ “British Works for Cello and Piano” series - 06P068 June 2014) are new recordings while the others are reissues of a 2003 release on a defunct label.
