Description: The songs by Schubert are all to texts by members of his circle of friends, most of whom were poets and artists. Among his few composer friends were Lachner and Hüttenbrenner, both of whom are far more talented than the paltry recordings of their work suggests, while Vogl stands out as both the foremost performer of Schubert's lieder, traveling around Germany and Austria singing them with the composer at the piano, and as composer himself (although it is not known whether he ever showed Schubert any of his songs.) German texts. Angelika Huber (soprano), Kilian Sprau (piano).
