Description: The 40-minute suite from a 2001 ballet colors its basically Romantic Western musical language with sparing use of Chinese instruments and musical flavors (the mezzo and chorus each make one vocalise appearance) while the 18 minutes of orchestral songs are impressively clothed in a neo-Mahlerian splendor.
