Description: Dating from 1819, this two-act comic opera, set in a gloomy castle and featuring a knight, his frightened servant, the castle's lord, servant and the knight's long-lost love interest, is a good example of Kurpinski's hybrid form which obtains for most of his stage works: a bit of singspiel, influences of Rossini and Weber, a mixture of Classicism and early Romanticism and the use of Polish folk music for local color.
