Description: Divided into five sections, each prefaced by a "preparation" derived from the Old Testament consisting of one or two recitative-aria pairs (there are no arias in the body of the Passion), this is an unusual formal set-up. But this Passion was designed for actual use by the congregation in their church which, however, doesn't prevent Telemann from introducing many ingenious means of adding color and intensity to the texts.
