Description: Tellefsen's sonatas date from 1856 and 1867 and, while there is not much which could be called Nordic about them, they are full of an attractive melodic richness and stylistically follow Beethoven's violin sonatas while sometimes dancing on the edge of salon music. Mikuli's interesting Grand Duo of the early 1860s is based on two themes which are treated to widely varying stylistic treatments in each of its four movements.
